Thematic Areas

ENCOT Foundation’s five thematic areas presented in the same sequence as the annual report highlights.

Our thematic highlights

These areas reflect ENCOT Foundation’s integrated approach to rural transformation, livelihoods, resilience, and inclusive growth.

AG
Agriculture & Food
Security
AVCAM launched in Masindi District; Soya Bean Farmers Association of Uganda, Masindi Chapter inaugurated on June 10, 2025, with 160+ farmers participating and interim leadership elected. 83 farmers enrolled for the soybean project.
CE
Circular Economy
ENCOT Foundation is advancing a circular economy model to improve resource efficiency, reduce agricultural waste, and create additional income streams for rural households. By transforming by-products into valuable inputs and strengthening market linkages, the approach enhances sustainability, boosts resilience, and increases farmer incomes without requiring additional land or costly external resources.
WS
WASH
Hygiene awareness integrated into AVCAM inception meetings, reaching 160+ farmers. Community water source mapping completed in Masindi; infrastructure delivery planned for H2 2025.
CC
Climate Change
ESG Integration Framework developed internally; ENCOT leadership attended the 2nd Annual Climate Finance Conference in Kampala, positioning the Foundation within climate-smart development networks.
ICT
ICT4 Development
In 2025, ENCOT Foundation formally established ICT for Development as a thematic area to digitally connect and empower farmers, cooperatives, partners, and staff; key milestones included completing the SAAVE platform design, launching the Foundation's website and three social media platforms, finalising KoboToolbox for field data collection, and opening partnership discussions with the Uganda Communications Commission, laying a solid digital foundation for the planned 2026 rollout.

Institutional Development and the Road Ahead

Internally, the Foundation finalised institutional policies, operationalised bank accounts, launched its official website, and strengthened data systems to support long-term, scalable impact. The MEL system produced first-generation data collection tools, farmer registration instruments, and a Theory of Change aligned with the five strategic goals.

Next Phase

Looking ahead, ENCOT Foundation is positioned to scale AVCAM, deepen partnerships, pilot SAAVE, strengthen WASH and climate work, and expand opportunities for farmers, cooperatives, women, and youth across the region.
